Katherine Hunka - violin   Finghin Collins - piano

Saturday November 25th 2017

Saturday 25th November sees the return of Katherine Hunka on violin, in a new partnership with Finghin Collins on piano. Both have played at Tullynally in the past, as recently as 2013, but not together, so this is a welcome first for us.
Katherine Hunka has been leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra since 2002 and regularly directs concerts from the violin as well as performing as soloist across a wide range of repertoire. As a soloist and chamber musician, Katherine has been a regular visitor to the Aldeburgh Festival, the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, and the festival of Great Music in Irish Houses.
Katherine has been a guest leader with the Manchester Camerata, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra and has performed solo concertos with the City of London Sinfonia, the National Symphony Orchestra and RTE Concert Orchestra.
Finghin Collins is one of Ireland’s most successful musicians. Since taking first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland in 1999, he has developed a flourishing career that takes him all over Europe, the United Staates and the Far East. Most recently, he made his Australian debut in July 2016.
Finghin has been artistic director of the New Ross Piano Festival since its inception in 2006, and is also Artistic director of Music for Galway since 2013.
